As per reports, a low pressure area (LPA) has been monitored inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) but Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) stated that it is unlikely to become a tropical cyclone in the next 24 hours. The weather system was located 940 kilometers east of southern Mindanao as of 0300 hours (local time) on Friday (22 May). Although forecast to not develop into a tropical depression, the system’s trough may bring rains to parts of Mindanao in the coming days.
Pagasa has also issued a general flood advisory for Davao Region and Caraga on Friday (22 May) morning, urging caution over light to moderate rains potentially affecting river systems in the area. Meanwhile, the easterlies, or warm winds from the Pacific, will continue to affect the rest of the country. Cebu is forecast to experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rains or thunderstorms on Friday (22 May).
