As per the Haryana State Election Commission, general elections will be held for seven municipal bodies and by-elections for 528 posts under the Panchayati Raj system across Haryana.
Polling is scheduled to take place on Sunday (10 May), while the counting of votes will be conducted on Wednesday (13 May) from 0800 hours (local time).
• Municipal corporation elections are scheduled to be conducted in Panchkula, Ambala, and Sonipat. Elections will also be held for the Rewari Municipal Council and the municipalities of Dharuhera, Sampla, Uklana, Tohana, Jhajjar, Rajound, Taraori, Sadhaura, and Kanina.
• By-elections for Panchayati Raj institutions are also scheduled for six ward member seats in municipal bodies of Tohana, Jhajjar, Rajound, Tarawadi, Kanina, and Sadhaura.
• In preparation for the elections, heightened security measures and increased police deployment are ongoing in several districts, particularly in Panchkula. Panchkula Police has been placed on alert mode to ensure the peaceful and orderly conduct of the elections.
• Security arrangements have been strengthened through flag marches, barricading, vehicle checks, and intensified surveillance across the city. Police teams led by station in-charges and outpost officials conducted flag marches in multiple areas to increase public confidence and deter activities that may disrupt law and order during the election period.
• Authorities have also intensified checks at interstate checkpoints and major entry routes into Panchkula. Vehicles and suspicious individuals are being searched at multiple checkpoints to prevent unlawful activity and ensure compliance with election regulations.
• Senior police officials stated that strict action would be taken against individuals violating the Model Code of Conduct or attempting to disrupt the election process. Residents have also been advised to report suspicious activities to emergency services through Dial 112.
