As per reports, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) will implement a Level II Fire Prevention Order across approximately 720,000 acres of public lands in Northwest Oregon, covering areas from Columbia County to the northern boundary of Douglas County starting Friday (01 August).
• This action is in response to increasing wildfire danger across the region and is intended to minimize human-caused fire ignitions.
• All campfires, charcoal grills, and stove fires are prohibited. Only portable cooking stoves using liquefied or bottled fuels will be permitted.
• Smoking is banned in all timber, brush, or grass-covered areas, except inside vehicles or in areas cleared of flammable materials (minimum three feet in diameter).
• Off-road vehicle travel is prohibited. Vehicles must remain on cleared roads and may only park in vegetation-free zones.
• Use of combustion engines or electric tools near vegetation is prohibited unless fitted with properly maintained spark arresters.
• Motorcycles and OHVs may only operate on designated trails in the Shotgun and Upper Nestucca OHV areas under specific conditions based on the fire danger class.
• Violations of this order may result in fines up to USD 100,000, imprisonment up to 12 months, and civil liability for fire suppression and damage costs.
