As per reports, authorities in Vaud and Lausanne have activated the official heatwave plans in response to forecast high temperatures from Friday (08 August).
• A high-pressure system stretching from the nearby Atlantic into Central Europe is intensifying, bringing sustained sunny conditions and a steady rise in temperatures across much of the Alpine region.
• From Saturday (09 August), daytime highs are expected to range between 32 degrees Celsius to 35 degrees Celsius.
• Urban centres are expected to remain several degrees warmer overnight due to the urban heat island effect.
• Relative humidity during peak heat hours will range between 30 to 50 percent.
• The Level 03 heat warning is currently in place until Wednesday (13 August), with a possible extension under review.
