As per reports, around 200 people from various Left Wing activist groups gathered at Hyde Park in Central Sydney on Sunday (18 January), defying the New South Wales (NSW) Police declaration banning protest gatherings in the aftermath of the Bondi Beach shooting. The protest was dispersed after NSW Police intervention.

Members of the Green Party issued statements in support of the demonstration, while opposing the protest ban. Furthermore, protestors have announced another major protest on Monday (26 January), with a potentially larger turnout.
