As per reports, LATAM Airlines has warned the Peruvian government that the new Unified Airport Use Fee (TUUA) scheduled to take effect on 07 December at Jorge Chávez International Airport could lead to the cancellation or postponement of several international routes, impacting Peru’s status as a regional air hub.
• The TUUA transfer fee is applied to international passengers transiting through Lima, even when they do not exit the airport. The fee, managed by Lima Airport Partners (LAP), the airport’s private concessionaire had previously been postponed, but the new implementation date is now confirmed.
• LATAM argues that the policy is expected to increase per-passenger costs, discouraging airlines from routing connecting flights through Lima.
• As a result, LATAM Airlines indicated that it may cancel or delay several planned international routes, including the Lima–Orlando (MCO) service, which has already been postponed until 01 December, as well as new connections to Curaçao (CUR) and Florianópolis (FLN), both scheduled to begin on 02 December, and the Lima–Tucumán (TUC) route, expected to start on 14 December.
