As per reports, a large-scale police operation is underway in the city center of Mönchengladbach, North Rhine-Westphalia, following a reported altercation involving multiple persons in the early hours of Thursday (23 April).

• Emergency services were called to the scene at approximately 0045 hours local time (2245 hours UTC on 22 April) after witnesses reported a confrontation involving several individuals in the city center area. A road traffic accident was also confirmed to have occurred in connection with the incident.
• The Korchenbroicher Straße, at its junction with Rahracker, has been closed in both directions since the early hours of Thursday (23 April) as part of the police operation. The closure remains in effect as of 0630 hours local time (0430 hours UTC) on Thursday (23 April) to facilitate forensic evidence gathering and follow-up investigations at the scene.
