As per reports, a large fire broke out at the Gaza Barracks accommodation block within Catterick Garrison, North Yorkshire, England, on Thursday evening (24 September).
• Emergency services were called to the scene on Thursday evening (24 September) at approximately 2100 hours local time (2000 hours UTC), and the incident is expected to remain ongoing through the early hours of Friday (25 September).
• North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service has confirmed that multiple fire appliances are in attendance at the scene. An additional appliance from County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service, along with their Aerial Ladder Platform, has also been deployed to assist.
• Smoke from the blaze has been reported as visible from a distance of over two miles, including from the nearby market town of Richmond.
• Hipswell and Colburn councillor Kevin Foster stated that details remain limited at this stage and that his immediate concern is for the safety and wellbeing of all personnel at the camp, including military personnel, their families, and the emergency services responding to the incident.
