As per reports, the South Carolina Department of Transportation will implement a temporary lane closure on the Elmwood Avenue Bridge in Richland County during the weekend of Saturday (17 January) and Sunday (18 January).
• The bridge, which is more than sixty years old and spans the Broad River, was identified during routine inspections as requiring maintenance to improve structural stability and extend its service life.
• The work is part of ongoing preventive maintenance activities and is not associated with a major reconstruction project.
• No formal detour will be established, although alternative routes are available for westbound traffic. The lane is expected to reopen by Monday (19 January) , subject to weather conditions.
