As per reports, Uttarakhand is witnessing severe weather conditions on Monday (07 July), leading to warnings and some disruptions across several districts. Following are the details:
• The Geological Survey of India has issued a landslide warning for four districts in Uttarakhand – Tehri, Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, and Chamoli. The alert warns of potential landslides on Monday and Tuesday (07-08 July) in several subdivisions, including Chamoli, Ukhimath, Ghansali, Narendra Nagar, Dhanaulti, Dunda, and Chinyalisaur. An official notice is awaited.
• In response, the State Emergency Operations Centre (SEOC) has directed all district magistrates, disaster management authorities, police, and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) to remain on alert.
• Traffic movement was disrupted on the on Ramnagar-Haldwani road on Monday (07 July) morning due to a stream overflowing in the Belgarh village.
• The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued orange alerts on Monday (07 July) in the districts of Dehradun, Bageshwar, Rudraprayag, and Tehri Garhwal for very heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning and squall.
• Yellow alerts have been issued in all other districts for heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, and squall.
• As per the IMD nowcast valid till 1800 hours, an orange alert for moderate rainfall (5.0-15 mm per hour), thunderstorms, and gusty winds of upto 40 kilometres per hour is active in the Nainital District.
• Yellow nowcast warnings for light rainfall and thunderstorms are also active in Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Almora, Champawat, and Uddham Singh Nagar.
