As per reports, the Chhatra Janata Sangram Parishad has called for a half-day road and waterway blockade in Khagrachhari and Rangamati districts from 0500 to 1200 hours (local time) on Saturday (24 October).
• The blockade has been called in protest against alleged attacks, baton charges and vandalism during a blockade in Sajek, Rangamati.
• The organisation is also expressing solidarity with Sajek residents’ demands, including the withdrawal of armed members of the Jana Samhati Samiti (JSS-Santu group).
• Ambulances, patient-carrying vehicles, hearse vehicles, fire service vehicles, vehicles transporting emergency medicines and media vehicles are expected to be exempt from the blockade.
