Kazhydromet has forecast widespread winter weather conditions across multiple regions of Kazakhstan on Thursday (05 February), including fog, icy conditions, snowfall, blizzards, and strong winds.

• Fog and icy conditions are expected across large parts of Almaty, Atyrau, Mangystau, Kyzylorda, Kostanay, Akmola, and Aktobe regions, including urban centres such as Atyrau, Kyzylorda, Karaganda, Zhezkazgan, and Taraz. Icy road surfaces are expected to develop overnight and persist into daytime hours in several regions.
• Snowfall and blizzard conditions are forecast across East Kazakhstan, Abai, West Kazakhstan, Karaganda, Ulytau, and Akmola regions, with snowstorms expected during night and daytime periods in parts of these areas. Heavy snow and mixed precipitation (rain and snow) are forecast in West Kazakhstan, with ground blizzards likely to develop during the day.
• Mountainous and elevated areas of Zhetisu, Turkestan, Zhambyl, and Almaty regions are expected to experience ground snow, heavy precipitation, icy conditions, and intermittent fog, with higher wind exposure in mountain corridors.
• Strong winds with gusts of 15 to 20 metres per second, and locally higher gusts in mountainous areas, are forecast across Atyrau, Mangystau, Zhambyl, Turkestan, West Kazakhstan, and parts of Aktobe and East Kazakhstan regions, with shifting wind directions during the day.
