Kazhydromet has forecast multiple adverse weather conditions across Kazakhstan on Thursday (12 February), including snowfall, ground blizzards, fog, icy roads, and gusty winds affecting several regions.
• Snow and ground blowing snow are expected in the east, central, and mountainous areas of the Zhetisu region. Light snow and ground blizzards are forecast overnight in the north and east of North Kazakhstan Region. Snow and blizzard conditions are expected at night in the north, east, and south of East Kazakhstan region, with light snow and ground blizzards during the afternoon in the north and east. In Abai region, light snow and blizzard conditions are expected at night in the south. Light snow and snowstorm conditions are also forecast overnight in the north and east of Akmola region.
• In Turkestan region, precipitation in the form of rain and snow is expected in the west, north, south, and mountainous areas, with occasional heavy precipitation, ice formation, blowing snow, and fog. Shymkent and Turkestan cities are expected to experience rain and snow with periods of ice and blowing snow. Ice and fog are also forecast in the north, south, and mountainous areas of Almaty region, including Almaty and Konayev. Ice is expected in the west, northeast, and south of Mangystau region, with icy conditions in Aktau overnight and in the morning.
• Fog is expected across multiple regions including Ulytau (north, east, and center), Karaganda (west, north, and east), Kostanay (north, south, and east), Aktobe (north, west, and south overnight and morning), West Kazakhstan (west, north, and east), Kyzylorda (north and center), and Uralsk overnight and in the morning. Fog is also expected at times in Taldykorgan and Kyzylorda cities.
