J&K Traffic Police issues traffic advisory on Thursday (07 August)

According to the Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) Traffic Police Headquarters, the following traffic plan will be in effect on Thursday (07 August) for Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44), Dhar Road, and Mughal Road, with special arrangements for the ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2025.

The details of the advisory are as follows:

• Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY) convoys, as well as Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs) including both passenger and private cars, shall be allowed to ply from both directions i.e., Jammu to Srinagar and Srinagar to Jammu.
• The movement of Heavy Motor Vehicles (HMVs) shall be permitted only on alternate days, subject to coordination between the Traffic Control Units (TCUs) of Jammu and Srinagar with TCU Ramban prior to any release of such vehicles.
• Cut-off timings for LMVs/passenger/private vehicles plying on NH-44 are specified as follows: from Nagrota (Jammu) towards Srinagar, movement shall be allowed between 0600 hours and 1200 hours; from Jakheni (Udhampur) towards Srinagar, between 0700 hours and 1300 hours; and from Qazigund towards Jammu, between 1130 hours and 1400 hours. No vehicular movement shall be allowed either before or after the stipulated cut-off timings under any circumstances.
• Movement of HMVs/load carriers from Jakheni (Udhampur) towards Srinagar shall be permitted only after a thorough assessment of road and traffic conditions. Further, no HMV shall be allowed to proceed after 1600 hours. TCU Udhampur shall establish coordination with TCU Ramban prior to the release of HMVs.
• In order to ensure uninterrupted movement of vehicles transporting fresh/perishable commodities, including fuel tankers, LPG carriers (both filled and empty), Food Corporation of India (FCI) empty vehicles, and any other vehicle (loaded or empty) up to 10 tyres returning to Jammu, it is mandatory for such vehicles to use only the Mughal Road.
• Additionally, only HMVs with six and 10 tyres shall be allowed to traverse via Dhar Road.
