As per reports, the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) has announced to stage nationwide protests on Friday (17 January) against the government’s failure to reduce electricity prices. JI’s Amir in Lahore addressed a press conference and stated that the Prime Minister has announced improvements in the stock exchange and economic indicators, however, there is still an inflation in basic necessities.

He further stated that despite the shutdown of Independent Power Producers (IPPs), the electricy bills have not decreased.
