As per reports, the NYPD will provide extra security measures at Sunday (02 June) Israel Day on Fifth Parade in Manhattan, similar to those used during the New Year’s Eve celebrations in Times Square.
• The additional safety measures will include security checks and the use of wands on spectators. People will only be permitted on the east side of the route; police will be positioned on the west side of the parade.
• Spectators who want to enter the parade can do so through Madison Avenue at five access points: East 61st, 63rd, 66th, 70th and 73rd streets.
• The police commissioner added that the city will deploy specialized units, including its bike, aviation, canine, transit and counterterrorism teams to aid in security efforts.
