As per reports, on Monday (15 December) at approximately 1730 hours local time (1630 hours UTC) German Bundestag reportedly experienced a significant information technology disruption resulting in an internet outage that prevented the sending of emails and affected internal digital operations.

• According to official statements, the precise cause of the outage has not yet been identified.
• As an immediate response, Bundestag information technology systems were shut down as a precautionary measure and later restarted in the afternoon.
• Relevant authorities were reportedly notified promptly, including the Federal Office for Information Security (Bundesamt für Sicherheit in der Informationstechnik – BSI), which is responsible for cyber security oversight at the federal level.
• At the time of reporting, it reportedly remained unclear whether the outage was related to external factors, internal technical failure, or any security-related incident. It was also not confirmed whether there was any connection between the outage and the visit of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to the President of the Bundestag, Julia Klöckner, who is a member of the Christian Democratic Union of Germany (Christlich Demokratische Union Deutschlands – CDU).
