As per reports, India conducted military strikes against Pakistan under Operation “Sindoor” in the early hours of Wednesday (07 May), in the aftermath of the Pahalgam terrorist attack. The Indian Government confirmed at 0144 hours that the strikes, targeting nine terrorist strongholds across Pakistan, were calibrated and non-escalatory precision strikes.

The Pakistan armed forces, in retaliatory strikes, claimed to have shot down five Indian Air Force (IAF) jets, a drone and destroyed brigade headquarters. However, there has been no official confirmation from India regarding these claims. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director-General Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry stated that all Pakistan Air Force jets are safe after engaging Indian jets. Among the destroyed Indian Air Force (IAF) jets are three French-made Rafales, one Su30MKI and one MIG-29 Fulcrum. The Pakistan armed forces also claimed to have destroyed an Indian post in the Dhundial sector of the Line of Control (LoC) and shot down a drone. An intense exchange of fire is ongoing at the LoC with Pakistan Army engaging Indian Army positions. Following are the latest details:

• Lt Gen Chaudhry stated that at least eight Pakistanis were killed and 35 were injured in Indian missile attacks on cities in Punjab and Azad Kashmir. DG ISPR elaborated that India launched 24 attacks on six sites in Pakistan. The Indian munitions also allegedly caused damage to the surrounding residential structures.
• A total of 24 impacts have been reported by India, with different weapons, in six localities. In these six localities, eight Pakistanis were killed, 35 were injured and two were missing.
• The Pakistan Prime Minister has summoned a meeting of the National Security Committee at 1000 hours on Wednesday (07 May).
• The biggest attack was in Ahmedpur Sharqia, near Bahawalpur city in Punjab province. Other attacks took place in Muridke city, a village near the city of Sialkot, and Shakargarh, also in Punjab province. Two locations in POK – Muzzafarabad and Kotli – were also attacked.

• In the aftermath of India’s military strikes on nine identified terror sites in Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) under Operation Sindoor, a wave of misinformation has emerged from Pakistani media and government-affiliated sources. Several posts falsely claimed that Pakistan had retaliated by launching missile strikes at 15 locations inside India. Others claimed that Srinagar Airbase had been hit by the Pakistan Air Force and that an Indian Army Brigade Headquarters had been destroyed. The Indian Government’s Press Information Bureau has debunked most of these claims.

• 60 air raid sirens will ring across Delhi at around 1600 hours on Wednesday (07 May), signalling the start of “Operation Abhyaas”, a nationwide civil defence mock drill that will mobilise thousands of volunteers, police officers, rescue teams and bureaucrats in response to simulated hostile scenarios. The drill will recreate a range of emergencies—from air raids and urban fires to casualty evacuations and temporary hospital setups—with an aim to test the national capital’s wartime readiness and civilian resilience. As part of the exercise, Delhi will see coordinated action at over 55 locations, five in each of the city’s 11 districts.
