The Department of Meteorology has stated that the Intertropical Convergence Zone (where winds from the Northern Hemisphere and Southern Hemisphere converge) further affects the island’s weather as on Sunday (04 May);
• Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Southern and Uva provinces after 1300 hours on Sunday (04 May).
• Fairly heavy rainfall above 50 mm is likely at some places in Sabaragamuwa, Central, Southern and Uva provinces and in Ampara district.
• Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places elsewhere of the island during the afternoon or night as well.
