As per reports, the South African Weather Service (SAWS) issued multiple weather warnings and advisories on Monday (29 June) due to a severe cold front moving across the country.
• Heavy rainfall and severe thunderstorms are forecast across the coastal regions, which may lead to localized flash flooding.
• Additionally, a significant cold snap is expected to cause temperatures to drop sharply, bringing light to moderate snowfall to the high-lying areas of the Eastern Cape Province, Lesotho, and the southern Drakensberg region.
• Reports indicate that accompanying the cold front are disruptive, gale-force winds and high waves reaching coastal areas, particularly affecting marine and overland transit routes between Cape Town and Port Elizabeth.
• The weather conditions are projected to remain valid through 2359 hours local time (2159 hours UTC) on Monday (29 June), with sub-zero temperatures expected overnight into Tuesday (30 June).
