As per the forecast issued by the Department of Meteorology, rainfall accompanied by thundershowers will occur in Uva, Ampara, Trincomalee, and Batticaloa districts on Monday (01 January). Heavy rainfall of about 100 millimeters (mm) is likely at some places in Sabaragamuwa, Southern, Central, and Uva provinces.
Fairly strong winds of about 30-35 kilometers per hour can be expected in Northern, North-Western, Uva provinces, and Hambantota districts. Misty conditions can be expected at some places in Western, Sabaragamuwa, and Central provinces.
