The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for thunderstorms and lightning across Jammu and Kashmir until Saturday (15 March), including Doda, Jammu, Kathua, Kishtwar, Poonch, Rajouri, Ramban, Reasi, Samba, Udhampur, Anantnag, Bandipora, Baramulla, Budgam, Ganderbal, Kulgam, Kupwara, Pulwama, Shopian, Muzaffarabad, Mirpur, and Srinagar.

According to IMD nowcast issued on Friday (14 March) at 1152 hours for light rainfall across Jammu and Kashmir, alert is valid until 1500 hours.

• The inclement weather conditions have caused a landslide in Pahalgam, Anantnag district on Thursday (13 March), leading to the death of three people.
• Authorities have ordered the closure of schools in parts of Jammu and Kashmir till Saturday (15 March).
