According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), a yellow alert for thunderstorm and lightning along with strong surface winds has been issued for several districts in Telangana on Sunday (18 August). Some districts also have a warning for heavy rainfall along with the yellow alert.

• Affected districts include Adilabad, Mancherial, Kamareddy, Rajanna Sircilla, J. Bhupalpally, Karimnagar, Siddipet, Medak, Sangareddy, Hanamkonda, Warangal, Mulugu, B. Kothagudem, Mahabubabad, Jangaon, Y. Bhuvanagiri, M. Malkajgiri, Hyderabad, Vikarabad, Rangareddy, Mahabubnagar, Narayanpet, Jogulamba Gadwal, Wanaparthy and Nagarkurnool.
• As per IMD’s nowcast, yellow alert for light rainfall greater than five mm/hr, thunderstorms and maximum surface wind speed less than 40 kmph has been issued for Hyderabad, M. Malkajgiri, Mancherial, Jagtial, Peddapalle, Rangareddy, Sangareddy, Vikarabad and Nagarkurnool till 1600 hours on Sunday (18 August).
• According to the IMD, a cloud mass is approaching the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) area from the southwest direction. Light to moderate rainfall may occur in Rajendra nagar, Charminar Karwan, Mehdipatnam, Malakpet, LB Nagar and its surrounding areas in next couple of hours.
