The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued orange alerts for very heavy rainfall in Chikkamagaluru, Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Shivamogga, and Uttara Kannada on Monday (08 July). Yellow alerts for heavy rainfall have been issued in Bidar, Kalaburagi, Yadgiri, and Belagavi. While there is no alert in Bengaluru Urban and Bengaluru Rural, the possibility of light to moderate rainfall remains likely.
The district administration has declared a holiday for schools and colleges in five taluks (administrative divisions) in Uttara Kannada district on Monday (08 July) following heavy rainfall in the region. A holiday has been declared for all schools and pre-degree colleges in Bhatkala, Honnavar, Kumta, Ankola and Karwar taluks.
