As per reports, as of Monday (22 December), increased security has been deployed across Rawalpindi since Saturday (20 December) as authorities prepare for possible protests after jailed former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan called on his supporters to take to the streets following his reported conviction in the Toshakhana 2 corruption case.
• More than 1,300 police officers and security personnel were deployed to maintain law and order amid concerns over protests by workers of Imran Khan’s party.
• The call for demonstrations came from a message posted on Khan’s X account. He remains held at Adiala Jail.
• Police were told to guard major roads and government sites, as the order came hours after Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi were sentenced in the Toshakhana 2 case.
