As per reports, security presence has been heightened at the Sacred Relics of St Francis Xavier in Old Goa for the 18th decennial Exposition of Sacred Relics of St Francis Xavier till 05 January 2025.
• Over 1200 police personnel have been deployed to provide round-the-clock security at the location. According to a police statement, 320 additional police personnel have been stationed for holidays, weekends and closing days.
• Around 600 CCTV cameras have been installed at Se Cathedral Church, Basilica of Bom Jesus Church and its surroundings along with other key points.
• Additionally, six AI-based cameras with face detection have been installed to track the movement of people.
• A special team of 20 police personnel from North and South Goa, have been deployed in civil dress to catch thieves hidden between the crowed. Several police personnel of Old Goa Police Station are maintaining vigil in and around the Church complex.
• Approximately 300 members of the security team have been positioned at the entrances of the Church complex and are around the relics of St. Francis Xavier.
• Around 400 traffic police personnel are deployed to ensure the smooth flow of traffic, along with 30 staff from the Special Branch and other units to collect intelligence inputs on traffic conditions and convey it to the local police station for further action.
