As per reports, security agencies in Yala province raised security measures to the highest level on Thursday (02 April) following intelligence indicating movement by violent groups believed to be preparing attacks in urban areas and economic zones.

The details are as follows:

• Authorities have increased surveillance in high-risk locations, particularly around town centres and key commercial areas. Screening procedures at checkpoints have been intensified, with a focus on cars and motorcycles that could potentially be used to transport or assemble improvised explosive devices, including car bombs and pipe bombs.
• Security intelligence units have also warned of a shift in tactics, including attempts to target officers’ vehicles during patrols and the use of small, dispersed explosive incidents in public places such as petrol stations, convenience stores, and public infrastructure.
• There is an additional concern regarding potential attacks on operating bases and checkpoints in higher-risk areas. Officials have further cautioned about the possibility of decoy attacks, where an initial incident may be used to draw responders before a secondary explosion is triggered.
• Separately, the Emergency Situation Administration Committee has approved the extension of the Emergency Decree on Public Administration in Emergency Situations, B.E. 2548 (2005), for an 84th period. The extension will cover 18 districts across the southern border provinces, including five districts in Pattani, three in Yala, and 10 in Narathiwat. The district of Su-ngai Kolok has also been included as an additional area under a severe emergency designation.
• The extension will remain in effect from Monday (20 April) to 19 July to enable continued security operations and maintenance of public order. Authorities have urged the public to report any suspicious individuals or objects to security agencies.
