According to reports, heavy snowfall continued on Thursday (06 February) in parts of Japan disrupting air traffic, with the weather agency warning of more snow toward the weekend. All Nippon Airways Co. (ANA) and Japan Airlines Co. (JAL) announced further flight cancellations for Thursday (06 February) and Friday (07 February).
ANA announced that 30 of its domestic flights were to be cancelled on Friday (07 February), including planes on the Haneda-Toyama and Fukuoka-Komatsu routes. ANA cancelled 27 flights on Thursday (06 February), including the route between New Chitose and Wakkanai, both in Hokkaido. JAL cancelled seven flights, with the affected routes including that between Osaka Prefecture’s Itami and Tajima in Hyogo Prefecture.
