The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) has issued a heavy rainfall emergency warning for Tamana City and Nagasu Town in Kumamoto Prefecture on Monday (11 August).
• The alert corresponds to Level 5, indicating an extremely high likelihood that a disaster has already occurred in landslide-prone areas and flood-prone zones.
• Residents have been advised to ensure their safety immediately, either by evacuating to a designated evacuation site or, if unsafe to do so, moving to a higher location or a building away from cliffs or streams.
