As per reports, the General Directorate of Meteorology has issued yellow and orange weather warnings for high temperatures and strong winds will be in effect from 0500 hours to 1200 hours (local time) for parts of Morocco through Friday (12 April).

• A yellow weather warning for high temperatures will be in effect from for Benslimane, Berrechid, Casablanca, El Jadida, Khemisset, Khenifra, Khouribga, Mediouna, Mohammadia, Nouaceur, Skhirate-Temara, and Zagora.
• An orange weather warning for high temperatures ranging between 35 – 38 degrees Celsius for Marrakesh, Assa-Zag, Guelmim, Tata, Agadir-Ida-Ou-Tanane, Chtouka – Ait Baha,cInezgane-Ait Melloul, Taroudant, Settat, Chichaoua, Essaouira, Rehamna, Youssoufia, Tiznit, Al Haouz, El Kelaa des Sraghna, Sidi Bennour, Azilal, Beni Mellal, Fquih Ben Salah, Sidi Ifni, and Safi.
• Additionally, an orange weather warning for high temperatures ranging between 38 – 42 degrees Celsius will be in effect for Es-Semara, Boujdour, Laayoune, Tarfaya, Oued Ed-Dahab, Tan-Tan, and Aousserd.
• An orange weather warning for strong winds with gusts ranging between 70 -85 km/h for Tetouan, Tangier-Assilah, Chefchaouen, Larache, and Fahs-Anjra.
• Furthermore, reports indicate that to mitigate the effect of water shortage, Morocco has been investing heavily in its water infrastructure, with projects covering the construction of new dams, water highways, and seawater desalination projects.
• The government is equally working to accelerate the construction of a number of desalination plants. The Sidi Ifni plant is scheduled to open in 2024 and the Dakhla plant in 2025. The Agadir plant is set to expand its works by 2026, and nine other plants are set to be opening up in 2024 or early 2025.
