As per reports, the National Weather Service (NWS) San Diego has issued an Extreme Heat Warning for the San Gorgonio Pass near Banning and the Coachella Valley in Southern California, in effect until 2000 hours local time (0300 hours UTC on 11 July) on Friday (10 July).

• The Extreme Heat Warning for the San Gorgonio Pass near the Banning area covers dangerously hot conditions with high temperatures forecast to reach up to 115 degrees Fahrenheit. Overnight low temperatures are expected to remain in the 80s degrees Fahrenheit, limiting recovery time between successive days of extreme heat.
• The Extreme Heat Warning for the Coachella Valley, including the cities of Palm Desert, Palm Desert Country, Indio, Palm Springs, Coachella, Cathedral City, and La Quinta, covers dangerously hot conditions with high temperatures forecast to reach up to 117 degrees Fahrenheit. Overnight low temperatures are expected to remain mostly in the 80s degrees Fahrenheit.
• A modest reduction in temperatures is expected on Friday (10 July) in the Inland Empire and desert areas, though conditions will remain at dangerously elevated levels through the conclusion of the warning at 2000 hours local time (0300 hours UTC on 11 July).
