As per reports, Nederlandse Spoorwegen is operating a reduced timetable on several routes until at least Friday (26 June) due to Code Orange heat warnings issued by the Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute.
• Reduced services are affecting routes including The Hague to Amsterdam and Rotterdam to Utrecht, as double decker trains are more prone to faults during sustained heat.
• Temperatures are forecast to reach up to 36 degrees Celsius in southern areas, while Groningen, Friesland and Drenthe remain under the lower Code Yellow warning.
• The National Institute for Public Health and the Environment also issued a smog warning for central and southern Netherlands on Wednesday (24 June) and Thursday (25 June), advising vulnerable groups to limit outdoor exposure during late afternoon and early evening.
