As per reports, a strengthening ridge of high pressure is expected to expand over the southeastern US from Tuesday (30 June), bringing a prolonged period of extreme heat to central North Carolina through Sunday (05 July).
• Forecast maximum temperatures are expected to reach the mid-90s degrees Fahrenheit (around 34 degrees Celsius–35 degrees Celsius) on Tuesday (30 June), before rising to the upper-90s degrees Fahrenheit (around 36 degrees Celsius–37 degrees Celsius) on Wednesday (01 July).
• From Thursday (02 July) through Sunday (05 July), actual air temperatures are expected to reach 100 degrees Fahrenheit or higher, (around 38 degrees Celsius or higher), with Friday (03 July) and Saturday (04 July) potentially reaching 103 degrees Fahrenheit to 104 degrees Fahrenheit, (around 39 degrees Celsius to 40 degrees Celsius).
• Heat index values may reach 105 degrees Fahrenheit to 110 degrees Fahrenheit, (around 41 degrees Celsius to 43 degrees Celsius), creating dangerous conditions for people spending extended time outdoors.
• Affected locations include Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, Triangle region, and Wake County.
