Heat and wildfire alerts issued across Finland through Sunday (27 July)

As per reports, heatwave and wildfire alerts are currently in effect across Finland, issued by the Finnish Meteorological Institute (FMI) from Tuesday (22 July).

• These warnings highlight a significant danger of wildfires due to pronounced soil dryness, with risks increasing further in windy conditions.
• Concurrently, a heatwave warning has been issued for Helsinki, Espoo, Tampere, Vantaa, Oulu, Turku, Jyväskylä, Lahti, Kuopio, Pori, Kouvola, Joensuu, Lappeenranta, Hämeenlinna, Vaasa, Rovaniemi, Seinäjoki, Mikkeli, Kotka, Salo, Porvoo, Kokkola, Lohja, Hyvinkää, Nurmijärvi, Kuusankoski, and Kaarina.
• Temperatures are forecast to reach highs around 30 degrees Celsius in parts of Lapland, and generally remain above 25 degrees Celsius in most regions through Sunday (27 July).
