As per reports, Hamburg authorities have announced a temporary no-fly zone for unmanned aircraft systems (drones) from Wednesday (17 June) to Friday (19 June) in connection with the Conference of Interior Ministers (Innenministerkonferenz, IMK) taking place in the city.
• The restriction applies to a large area extending from the northern edge of the Outer Alster to Kleiner Grasbrook south of the Elbe River, and from Sternschanze in the west to Borgfelde in the east. Drone operations within the designated zone are prohibited up to an altitude of 1,000 feet above ground level.
• The security measure has been implemented to support police operations and ensure the safety of conference participants and the public during the event. The IMK is scheduled to bring together interior ministers from Germany’s federal states and senior federal officials in Hamburg between Wednesday (17 June) to Friday (19 June).
• Hamburg Interior Senator Andy Grote, acting as conference chair, is scheduled to welcome participants including Federal Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt on Wednesday (17 June), while Federal Defence Minister Boris Pistorius is expected to attend the closing stages of the conference on Friday (19 June).
