As per reports, as of 1455 hours local time on Friday (05 April), 52 acres of land near Jerry Murphy Road and Vision Hills Parkway has been affected by grass fires and about 20 percent has been contained.
• Evacuations were ordered at 1300 hours local time for the Vision Hills area including for homes within a half-mile of 1945 Overton Road.
• The following road closures are in effect:- Jerry Murphy Road/Overton Road from Bluestem Boulevard to Pinon Road;- Vision Hills Parkway from Jerry Murphy Road to Castor Drive
• A Red Cross evacuation center was reportedly set up at St. Charles Recreation Center, 1600 Cooper Place. Furthermore, large animals can be taken to the Liberty Landing Stables, 1401 S. McCulloch Boulevard. A secondary location will be at 4 Bar S, 6675 Colo. Highway 78.
• The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a red flag warning, which will be in effect until 2000 hours local time on Saturday (06 April) for the following areas: Southern El Paso County including Fort Carson and Colorado Springs, Huerfano County including Walsenburg, Western Las Animas County including Trinidad and Thatcher; Crowley County including Ordway; Otero County including La Junta and Western Comanche Grasslands; Eastern Las Animas County including Pinon Canyon; Bent County including Las Animas; Prowers County including Lamar; Baca County including Springfield and Eastern Comanche Grasslands.
