As per reports, a gherao (encirclement) will be carried out at the Baruipur Superintendent of Police’s office on Thursday (27 March). This will be carried out by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers in protest against the attack on BJP state leader Suvendu Adhikari in Baruipur during a rally on Wednesday (19 March). Adhikari has demanded the resignation of Speaker Biman Banerjee and imposition of ‘President’s rule’ ahead of assembly elections in 2026.
