According to reports, a gas explosion occurred during the night hours of Friday (21 November) in the Bioku-Alaadun community of Ona Ara Local Government Area, Ibadan, Oyo State, when a gas tanker was offloading its contents into a retail outlet.

• As of Saturday (22 November), the incident resulted in three fatalities, comprising the proprietor of the gas retail outlet and two additional individuals who were in close proximity to the site of the explosion.
• Emergency responders from the Oyo State Fire Services Agency were on the ground managing the situation.
• The Executive Chairman of Ona Ara Local Government visited the site to assess damage and coordinate emergency response.
• Investigations have been initiated to determine the cause of the explosion and enforce stricter safety measures for flammable materials.
• Residents were urged to exercise caution with combustible products.
