As per reports, airlines operating at Seattle–Tacoma International Airport are advised of potential fuel shortages due to a crack identified in the Olympic Pipeline near Everett, Washington on Sunday (16 November).
• The disruption has slowed fuel deliveries to SeaTac, and fuel issues are expected on Monday (17 November) as reserves may begin running low.
• Airlines have been instructed to “ferry” fuel by loading additional quantities at their departure airports to maintain operational continuity upon arrival in Seattle.
• Fuel is currently being transported via trucks instead of the damaged pipeline, although this remains inefficient as only two trucks can offload fuel into tanks at a time.
• Additional drivers from neighbouring states have been mobilised, and Washington State Patrol has eased driver-hour restrictions to accelerate deliveries.
