As per reports, the Castile and León Regional Government has declared a state of alert for meteorological forest-fire risk across the entire region between Tuesday (11 August) and Thursday (13 August), including Soria, due to an anticipated deterioration in weather conditions that will increase both the probability of fire ignition and the potential for rapid fire spread.

• An anticyclonic ridge is expected to move over Castile and León, resulting in temperatures of 34–36 degrees Celsius, while relative humidity is forecast to fall to below 10 percent at minimum levels. Critical maximum humidity levels are expected to remain below 40 percent across the southeastern half of the region and below 30 percent in the Central System mountain ranges of Ávila and Segovia.
• Maximum average winds of 20–35 km/h, with gusts of 35–45 km/h, are forecast. Widespread storms are not expected, although isolated thunderstorms remain possible.
• Strong winds and convective atmospheric conditions may contribute to extreme fire behaviour, while the five heat waves recorded during the season have further deteriorated vegetation conditions.
• The measures apply to forests and the 400-metre-wide buffer zone surrounding them. During the alert period, authorities have prohibited lighting fires in forests and all types of open spaces, including recreational and camping areas even where designated for this purpose; using barbecues in open spaces, including authorised facilities; using fire under previously granted authorisations, which have been suspended; introducing or using pyrotechnic materials or launching rockets and other fire-containing devices; and operating machinery in forests or within the surrounding 400-metre strip where normal operation can generate fire, deflagrations, sparks or electrical discharges, including blowtorches, welding equipment and angle grinders.
• The machinery restriction does not apply to equipment used for emergency or public-interest operations involving urgent repairs to public infrastructure, electricity, natural-gas or telecommunications services, provided the work has been reported to the Territorial Environmental Services and is conducted in accordance with their prescribed safety measures. Expressly authorised activities and machinery required for firefighting are also exempt.
