As per reports, Météo-France has placed three departments on red alert and ten departments on orange alert due to significantly increased wildfire risks on Tuesday (15 July), and Wednesday (16 July).
• The elevated risk is attributed to high temperatures, dry conditions, and a rainfall deficit, which have created favourable conditions for wildfire outbreaks.
• Departments under orange alert on Tuesday (15 July), include Loire-Atlantique, Maine-et-Loire, Sarthe, Loir-et-Cher, Indre, Vienne, Deux-Sèvres, and in the southeast, Var, Vaucluse, and Bouches-du-Rhône.
• The red alert level has been issued for Wednesday (16 July), in Var, Vaucluse, and Bouches-du-Rhône, due to expected strong northwesterly winds with gusts reaching up to 70 kilometres per hour.
