As per reports, flooding along the Rio Negro in Paraná affected residential areas and displaced more than 120 people between Saturday (05 September) and Sunday (06 September).
• Reports indicate that the river reached a peak level of 8.13 metres during the early hours of Saturday (05 September), before declining to approximately 7.59 metres over the following 36 hours.
• Reportedly, 156 people were affected, including 122 officially displaced people, while 14 families were accommodated at Ginásio José Müller.
• Paraná Civil Defense has advised displaced people not to return home due to the possibility of renewed river rises caused by rainfall across the wider river basin.
• Flooding affected between 41 and 51 residential properties, with the main impact reported in Vila Paraná, Vila Paraíso and Centro.
• Reports indicate that rainfall across the wider hydrological basin, including Tijucas do Sul and Garuva, may continue contributing to river levels in Rio Negro.
• Civil Defense reportedly estimated that conditions for safe returns and clean up activities may not normalise until late Sunday (06 September) or Monday (07 September).
• The Municipal Government of Rio Negro reportedly opened an aid collection centre at Ginásio José Müller, operating from 0800 hours local time (1100 hours UTC) to 1800 hours local time (2100 hours UTC) daily.
