As per reports, incessant heavy rainfall has resulted in flooding across several areas of Batang Regency, Central Java Province. Updates on the same, as on Wednesday (22 January) are as follows:
• The National Disaster Management Agency ( BNPB ) has stated that several bridges in Batang Regency in Central Java Province, were damaged by flooding. At least six connecting facilities were cut off, while the inundation was observed to have receded.
• When the flood occurred, as many as 130 heads of families or 500 residents were displaced, while more than 7,000 residents were affected by the flood.
• The affected districts are Bawang, Reban, Subah, Tersono, Warungasem, Gringsing, Bandar, Blado, Batang and Wonotunggal Districts.
• In addition to bridges and houses, the affected facilities include seven houses, one tourist/ public location, one hydroelectric power plant and one road section.
• Meanwhile, several areas in Central Java Province were affected by floods and landslides; including Pekalongan, Kendal, Brebes, Grobogan, Pemalang, Demak, Sragen, Tegal and Surakarta City.
• Additionally, extreme weather with moderate to heavy rainfall is likely to occur in Central Java on Thursday – Friday (23 – 24 January).
