As per reports, around 10,000 residents are estimated to be affected by floods in the rural Pitas district during Friday night hours (17 January).

• Four temporary relocation centres at Dewan Kusilad were activated in the district to house flood evacuees.
• At 2100 hours on Friday (17 January), the water levels at Sungai Kabatasan (4.57m) and Sungai Bengkoka (2.69m) crossed the danger limit.
• Locals in the Bengkoka and Pitas state constituencies were trapped due to rising water.
• As per Met Malaysia’s latest forecast, thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds are expected in the state of Pahang (Kuantan, Pekan and Rompin) until 1400 hours on Saturday (18 January).
