Flooding and severe weather conditions reported across San Francisco Bay Area on Monday (22 December)

As per reports, heavy rainfall associated with an atmospheric river is impacting the San Francisco Bay Area on Monday (22 December), resulting in standing water and localized flooding across multiple counties. Low-lying urban areas and roadways are experiencing water accumulation during commute hours.

• A Flood Watch remains in effect for the North Bay, including Napa, Sonoma and Marin counties, and is scheduled to expand to the entire Bay Area from Tuesday (23 December) morning through Friday (26 December).
• Parts of Alameda and Contra Costa counties remain under flood advisories due to the risk of localized roadway flooding and water pooling.
• Forecasts indicate moderate to heavy rainfall of 02 to 05 inches in valleys and up to 06 to 08 inches in coastal mountain areas, increasing the likelihood of rapid rises in creeks and streams.
• Multiple vehicle spin-outs and roadway flooding are reported across the region, including along State Route 121 near its intersection with State Route 12 in Sonoma County.
• Thunderstorm activity is expected across Tuesday (23 December), Wednesday (24 December) and Thursday (25 December).
• A high wind watch is scheduled from Tuesday (23 December) evening through early Wednesday (24 December), with wind gusts up to 60 mph possible.
