As per reports, a period of severe and unstable weather conditions is affecting large parts of the UK particularly Scotland, following heavy rainfall, melting snowfall, and the passage of Storm Goretti as of Monday (12 January).

• The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for ice across northern and north-eastern Scotland, valid from 1900 hours local time (1900 hours UTC) on Monday (12 January) till 1000 hours local time (1000 hours UTC) on Tuesday (13 January).
• The warning applies to several local authority areas, including Angus, Perth and Kinross, Stirling, Aberdeen City, Aberdeenshire, Moray, Highland, and Argyll and Bute.
• These hazards follow widespread flooding caused by a combination of heavy rainfall and rapid snowmelt.
• Multiple transport routes in Scotland have been affected, including the closure of the A92 in Aberdeenshire due to flooding, the A9 at Blair Atholl in Perth and Kinross, and the A815 near Cairndow in Argyll and Bute due to a landslide near the Rest and Be Thankful.
• At the same time, the Scottish Environment Protection Agency has issued a high number of flood warnings and flood alerts, with flood risk assessed as highest in Dumfries and Galloway and across western and northern Scotland.
• Storm Goretti reportedly brought extremely strong winds, with gusts approaching 100 miles per hour, and prompted a rare red warning for dangerous winds in south-west England.
• The storm has resulted in power outages, transport disruption, water supply interruptions, and school closures.
• Flood alerts and warnings remain active in England and Wales, with the Environment Agency and Natural Resources Wales monitoring ongoing risks.
• Water supply disruptions persist in parts of the South West, Kent, and Sussex, with water companies working to restore services.
