As per reports, several flood alerts remain in place across Somerset on Saturday (11 January) as a result of heavy rainfall which caused river levels to stay elevated. The Environment Agency (EA) has issued additional warnings today, cautioning residents to exercise vigilance around flood-prone areas.
• Key alerts include high water levels in West Somerset streams such as Horner Water, River Aller, and Washford River, though levels are gradually falling.
• In the River Yeo and River Parrett Moors, floodwaters persist, impacting areas like Langport, Muchelney, and Thorney.
• The Lower Tone and Parrett Moors, including Curry Moor, Stan Moor, and Salt Moor, are also affected, with pumping operations gradually reducing water levels.
• In Salisbury Plain, high groundwater levels have caused flooding in several locations, including Salisbury, Tidworth, and Tisbury.
• Road closures remain a significant challenge, with routes such as Cuts Road (East Lyng), Langport Road (Muchelney), and New Road (North Curry) impassable due to flooding.
• Traffic disruptions have been reported on the A4 Bath Road in Saltford and A4 London Road in Bath, with extended travel times.
• The Met Office forecasts rainfall across the region on Saturday (11 January), with temperatures potentially dropping below freezing.
• A drier day with occasional clear skies is expected on Sunday (12 January), although fog patches may develop in the early hours.
