According to reports, the number of flood victims in the Johor has increased, reaching 7,511 people at 1600 hours compared to 6,564 people at 0800 hours on Monday (08 January).
The state disaster management committee has stated that most victims are at Kota Tinggi, with 4,397 people at 26 temporary relief centres.
• As of 1600 hours on Monday (08 January), 7,511 flood victims from 2,108 families were placed at 50 relief centres in six districts.
• The highest number of victims is at Kota Tinggi with 4,397 people, followed by Kluang (1,680), Johor Baru (1,271), Kulai (86), Segamat (60), and Pontian (17).
• The relief centres with the highest number of evacuees were Dewan Raya Taman Kota Jaya in Tenggara, with 376 people; followed by SK Bukit Mutiara, with 354 people and Dewan Kampung Maju Jaya, with 350 people in Tebrau.
• There are now nine closed roads in four districts: Kota Tinggi, Johor Baru, Segamat, and Mersing.
• The closed roads in Kota Tinggi are Jalan Kota Tinggi-Kluang, Jalan Kota Tinggi-Kulai, Jalan Tai Hong (Taman Scientex), Jalan Tai Hong (Jambatan Kecil), Jalan Mawai Lama and Jalan Batu Pahat-Mersing.
• Seven rivers reached critical levels and overflowed its banks, including in Sungai Kahang in Kluang at 15.13 metres, Sungai Johor at 18.14 metres and Sungai Siam at 21.10 metres both in Kulai, 8.76 metres at Sungai Kepala Orang in Kota Tinggi and 4.73 metres at Sungai Skudai and 9.61 metres at Sungai Tebrau, both in Johor Baru.
• Sungai Lenik in Batu Pahat and another stretch of Sungai Johor in Kota Tinggi triggered an orange-alert, indicating a warning-level. All the remaining rivers out of the 14 rivers reached the yellow-alert, which do not pose an immediate danger.
