As per reports, the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has announced a phased schedule of flood preparedness mock drills across city underpasses, commencing Friday (15 May).
The details are as follows:
• Mock drills will be conducted at Ambience Mall, Subhash Chowk, and Shankar Chowk on Friday (15 May), followed by IFFCO Chowk, Signature Tower, Rajiv Chowk, and Hero Honda Chowk between Monday-Thursday (18-21 May).
• GMDA plans to extend the exercise to newly developed Sectors 102, 104, and 113 later in May.
• Drills will test the operational readiness of pumping machinery, DG sets, and drainage networks by releasing recycled water from fire tenders into underground sumps at underpasses.
• Traffic is expected to continue normally during the drills, with all lanes remaining open to commuters.
• A 24×7 Flood Control Office has been activated by GMDA to serve as the central coordination hub for real-time rainfall monitoring, resource deployment, and rapid grievance redressal during the monsoon season.
