As per reports, the Federal Government, through the Nigeria Hydrological Services Agency (NIHSA) and the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), issued a fresh flood risk warning across multiple states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) covering the period from Saturday (27 September) to 10 October.
• Reports indicate that critical-risk locations include Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ekiti, Ondo, Niger, Kaduna, Kwara, Delta, Kogi, and Edo.
• Reports suggest that NIHSA and state emergency management authorities are monitoring rising water levels along the Niger and Benue river basins.
• Reportedly, the flood prediction is attributed to sustained heavy seasonal rainfall and increased discharge from major river channels across the region.
